Timo anyone?

This year’s transfer rumour that won’t go away is young German international Timo Werner and with multiple occasions of public flirting from the player, there’s every reason to suspect there might be some truth to the links. Does he fit with us though?

For me, it’s a simple yes. Strong with both feet, he’s capable of filling in for any one of our front three across all three positions but he also crucially gives us a proper CF.

I expect Klopp to freshen things up a bit next season and that may mean we play a 4-2-3-1 more frequently, with a more recognised CF and Werner could be that man. With Bobby dropping back into a more recognised 10 role and Werner up top, the movement and fluidity of that front four would be a nightmare for any defence.

His stats are more than decent too. Last season he notched 16 goals and 7 assists in 30 Bundesliga matches and scored 3 goals in 6 appearances in the Champions League.
This season he has scored 21 goals and registered 7 assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances and has 4 goals in 8 games in the Champions League.

A consistent scorer and creator then, who is also delivering a 1 in 2 ratio in the Champions League over the last two seasons.

At 24, he’s the target age for the club – ready to make an impact but with space for further development and with a reported release clause of something like €60 million, this one is surely a no brainer right?

What’s your thoughts then troops? Timo or not Timo and if not Timo then who? Send your answers to site secretary Orme who will formulate them into a graph 😉
