RB Leipzig vs Liverpool

A change is as good as a rest or so they say. So it’s onwards and Kloppwards and into the Champions League knockout stages and a tie against RB Leipzig. As you will know the RB stands for Red Bull, after the drink that gives you wings and all it takes in return is your teeth and guts. You’ll never guess what their mascot is though. Oh you guessed? …

Red Bull took over the club in 2005 and promptly changed their name, the club colours, the team management and even the tea lady. I cannot overstate the clumsy nature of their takeover and complete disregard for the club’s history.  I will just say though they ripped out it’s soul, spat on it, threw it on the ground, trampled on it and then set fire to it. They then went on to forge close links with the coincidentally named RB Salzburg and players started to be transferred between the clubs. When both clubs qualified for the champions league UEFA suddenly wondered if there might be the possibility that there could be a perceived conflict of interest. Fortunately, after a long and exhaustive independent enquiry they concluded that there was nothing whatsoever to worry about. Move along please nothing to see here….

I was inspired by the poetry of 4everRed, Matty and Mickey Mouser and influenced by valentines day. So I thought I would throw my hat in the ring for the vacant post of 4kk poet laureate and use the medium of poetry to convey the depth of feeling I have about the club and to sum up the full range of emotions I feel as a supporter and the disdain I have for our opponents. I worked through the night and the wee small hours before coming up with the following. Enjoy:

Roses are red, violets are blue, I support Liverpool, so eff off you!

I don’t want to knock the other poets on the site but I must say it really wasn’t as difficult as I thought it might be 😉 In all seriousness, I have a great admiration for the ability of our real poets to knock out a poem off the cuff as they do. It has brought something new to the site which I really enjoy and I know I am not alone.

Anyway, back to the footy. RB Leipzig have had some mixed results themselves but nonetheless they are second in their league. They were also able to rest some players in their 2-1 win at the weekend over Augsburg and they will be a real challenge. I have heard that Keita was back in training though not fit enough to feature but that Davies also trained and might be ok to play. So the team: Alisson, TAA, Davies, Kayak, Hendo, Rambo, Thiago, Curtis, Mane, Firmino, Salah. I am not sure Klopp will throw in both new CBs and Davies might find himself on the bench but who he would bring into the midfield? I just don’t know. What do you think?
