Preston v Liverpool

Preston are so confident of causing an upset they are only using their team from the North end of Preston resting those from the South, East and West. Or perhaps it’s because they know they are going to get beaten and are just getting in their excuses early 😉 Anyway, I am looking forward to this game as I am still buzzing from the last one and can’t help having a sneaky peak back at the highlights every now and then.

This is another Derby (well they are in Lancashire) against a side with a great history in the game. I often wonder why the oligarchs and reputation washers don’t buy up sides like that. Those with a real history to tap into which is something money can’t create (Abramovich are you listening?)

My first teenage crush was a girl who lived in Preston and I remember she always used to say lickle instead of little though, obviously, she wasn’t referring to me. I hadn’t thought about her in years until now. It’s funny how lickle things can bring back a flood of lovely almost forgotten memories. Ahh well back to the game.

Well as for the team the only thing I am sure of is we will have Adrian in goal with Kelleher unfortunately injured/sick (again). I am also hoping we can give some of the youngsters and fringe players a run out. Our main issue will be in midfield where we need to save our energies for the weekend given that Thiago and Fab are still on the way back and Keita is still being monitored. So I expect a young looking midfield in particular. It’s a real shame that Gordon won’t be fit as I was looking forward to seeing more of him.

Buoyed by my success at the weekend when I forecast a tight game decided only by a moment of magic or madness I am going to stick my neck out again and forecast a rollicking, swashbuckling, high scoring game with Liverpool narrowly prevailing. Still never mind Shetland is on BBC …..
