Liverpool vs Ajax

Like Atalanta, Ajax was a Greek mythical figure a great hero who was heavily involved in the Trojan wars. In the end though he went a bit funny and thought his hosts cattle were opposing warriors so he slayed them. Then, when he realised what he’d done, he committed suicide with his own sword and everyone lived happily ever after. After reading this story I was wondering whether it was worth getting Klopp to rush the Ox back but given our injury record don’t think we can risk having the Ox slain any more than we can rely on Ajax committing suicide.

Ajax are a very good side and we were slightly lucky to beat them in our first game. Since then they have gone on a bit of a goal fest regularly scoring five in three domestic games and beating Mid 3-1 in the CL. The good thing from our point of view is that this is not a must win match and our destiny will still be in our own hands even if we lose. As long as we beat Mid in our final game we will qualify for the knock-out stage and that may well take off some of the pressure in this game.

If Klopp wants to win this one I think the team will be: Alisson, Hendo, Fab, Matip, Robbo, Gini, Jones, Jota, Mane, Firmino, Salah. On the other hand he might decide to save that team for Wolves and instead go with this team: Alisson, Hendo. Williams, Matip, Tsimikas, Gini, Fab, Jones, Jota, Origi, Mane. Then again, you could mix and match to your heart’s content. I can’t even imagine who we can have on the bench either as we are fast running out of players.
