Lincoln City vs Liverpool

Liverpool are off to Lincoln on Thursday night in their quest to win the Caramac Cup once again . We have won it eight times now which is more than any other club but the last time was a couple of years ago (Jock) in 2003 (Edit: and again in 2012;-)) and in recent years City have started to close the gap and are now just one win behind. So it’s about time we won it again and put those upstarts back in their (second) place.

Lincoln is one of our cathedral Cities and finding accommodation for the team will be quite difficult this time of the year. This is when our Cathedral Cities traditionally experience a large influx of pairs of male tourists from Russia with rather large bulges in their trousers. Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just pleased to……… be sharing a room?

As Jay pointed out we should expect to see a very strong second string and it may well be the first outing for Jota who I am looking forward to seeing. I have only really seen a couple of videos and they can give a false impression. (I remember seeing one on Moreno and he looked a World beater ;-)) But, from what I have seen of Jota, he has a good first touch, quick reactions and passes the ball well.

I know many of you will be reading this with increasing impatience and asking yourselves when is he going to get to the point. So, without further ado, I can reveal the Lincoln mascot is called poacher the Imp reflecting the club’s nickname “The Imps”.

Lincoln City are known as the Imps because of a 14th century legend that tells of Satan sending two imps to cause trouble at Lincoln Cathedral and where they smashed up the furniture and bashed the Bishop. Shocking stuff.

Team: Adrian, Williams, Koumetio, VVD, Tsimikas, Grujic, Milner, Jones, Minamino, Origi, Jota. Or perhaps not 😉
