FNM..Remembering the 97.
Friday night music has been a mainstay on 4KK for three years now, thanks to you the community enjoying the escapism it allows us in our lives.
It’s been around so long that Friday’s probably wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t share our tunes, laughter and other topics with each other. We do this on a daily basis anyway so why do we enjoy FNM so much? Fooked if I know🤷.
Tomorrow it will be 34 years since 97 football supporters of all ages went to a football match to watch their beloved Liverpool but didn’t come home.
A day never passes without my thoughts touching upon the events on that fateful Saturday on April 15, 1989.
Whole families from near and far were ripped to shreds that day, friends of the fallen were ripped in two as were many communities up and down the country and beyond.
To this day I am haunted by the image of a very close friend of mine splattered on the front page of a newspaper as hundreds, if not thousands of people are haunted by their own memories and thoughts.
The hardship and pain was compounded by the authorities and their desire to brush the disaster under the carpet, desperately hoping time would make it all go away. How wrong they were.
I’m not going to harp on about the then government nor the ineptitude of the police force. We do that every year and rightly so.
Tonight’s/ today’s music thread is about sharing a thought for our beloved 97 angels as we post what we post.
Would they enjoy the music we share? They’d all love the shite I post, I’m sure 🙄.
We honour them by Remembering them, be it briefly in our busy lives or more often than sometimes.
I could write so much about my personal thoughts but then you wouldn’t have time to post your music, we do play on Monday ya know.
Within my heart there will be 97 candles lit in their memory, 97 chairs set out in their honour.
We here at the 4KK pub enjoy music from the 4 Korners of the planet.
We are the lucky ones.
