Brazil v Alba

Tonight we have a game between the team that led to football becoming known as “the beautiful game” ….and Brazil.

We were having a debate yesterday about the pros and cons of having more of the smaller underdogs taking part in the World Cup and I took the view that it diluted the tournament while others, including Ata, thought it was a good thing for the players and fans of those smaller Nations. I have had more time to reflect on it a little now and am coming round to the latter argument. I mean you’d need a heart of stone not to be moved by those tiny, little, pink, smiley, hopeful Scottish faces…. It is worth remembering too, that should they by some mathematical fluke actually manage to qualify for the latter stages, they will make history having never done so before.

The game starts at 23.00 and is available to watch on BBC1 and BBC Scotland. I have already been asked if I will be staying up to watch it and I said well let me just think about that for a while … no, no, no, no, no, no no.
