Optimism or Delusion

We seem to be a pretty optimistic bunch of people on this site, as far as our support of the club is concerned. My question though is are we being just too optimistic? The transfer in of Nunez and a couple of children in defence and midfield seems to have sent people into raptures and the little matter of Mane’s departure is just seen as one of those things.

I know that we still have Klopp and he has already shown what wonders he can perform. I know too that our transfer team have also performed superbly well with some amazing finds including Mane himself. My fear though is that we are heading for a mini rebuild and that for the next year or two we might not be able to reach the heights of recent seasons and that will enable City will pull away from us and the rest of the league. In case you haven’t noticed they’ve signed Haaland, Alvarez and NOW Phillips.

I worry that we are placing too much expectations on the shoulders of a very young Nunez, untried at the very top level. That Diaz, whilst wonderfully skilful, might lack a finish and also that we will miss the quality of Mane, in more ways than we know. I worry too that our midfield is aging and the youngsters will struggle to fully step up this season and yes, I still worry that Thiago, whilst a very attractive footballer, doesn’t necessarily help us win games. It’s a challenge to be attractive as well as effective and there’s not many of us that can carry that off consistently.

Ok, so they are my worries, now tell me I’m worrying unnecessarily…..please tell me I’m worrying unnecessarily!
