Another dismal display then and there can be really no excuses agains a Spurs side who are not only imploding and yet to win a game this YEAR but they were also missing 14 players through injury and suspension, including their first choice CB pairing.
Despite this however we still couldn’t score in open play, or really create many clear chances of note and the goal we did score, while at first viewing looked like another cracker of a free kick from Dom, the replays showed it was really a goalkeeping error, as it was fairly central in the goal and the keeper got a full hand to it.
As the game went on and the created a number of chances, I think pretty much everyone in the ground and sitting at home knew what was coming and sure enough, another late goal conceded and once again we miss the opportunity to take advantage of Chelsea and Villa dropping points.
I’ve been saying for a while that the players don’t look fit enough and I heard on the radio earlier that apparently Spurs players ran approximately a KM more per player than we did on Sunday, which along with conceding the most late goals in the league, backs that up.
It’s difficult to find any positives at the moment, apart from young Rio. We’re turgid to watch, toothless up front, open and leggy in midfield and all over the place in defence. When not a single part of the team is functioning properly, it really is damning for a manager.
The return leg of our CL tie up next then and personally I’m not at all confident. I don’t feel like we’ll keep clean sheets and if we concede, are we going to score three? It’s possible but I’m far from confident we’ve got that in us just now. We live in hope however. Walk on!
